As younger people growing up in South Africa and the UK respectively, Storm and Sophie were individually moved by the plight of orphaned and vulnerable children. They were convicted to find a way to help and when they met, this shared conviction birthed the beginnings of their NGO named New Routes Foundation. After their wedding in 2018, they raised funds and moved to Eldoret, Kenya in 2019 to begin this work.
Although they knew no one in Eldoret, they found deep fellowship and family in Calvary Chapel Eldoret where they faithfully participated in many aspects of ministry. Storm eventually led the men’s ministry and became one of the CCE pastors. Meanwhile Sophie taught many bible studies in the women’s meetings and personally discipled several young ladies.
Impacted by the faithful teaching of the Scriptures, verse by verse, Storm was determined to teach it to others in this way so they could truly understand the Bible. He saw a great need for expositional Bible teaching and after prayer they determined to go back to Storm’s childhood home in Ballito, South Africa.
In 2022, they were commissioned to begin Calvary Chapel Dolphin Coast which began officially in December as a home Bible Study. Although they didn’t know anyone there, God has been faithful to bring people to their Bible Study and they are making steady steps forward for the glory of God.
